🎄 Waiver Wire: The Risky Christmas Gifts of Fantasy Football! 🎁
Like a classic Christmas fruitcake, I’m not diving too deep into quarterbacks this week. With no byes, your starting QB should ideally be better than anything left on the waiver wire. But hey, maybe you’re feeling a little unsure about trusting C.J. Stroud—and I get it.
So, if you’re looking for a little Christmas magic, I’ve got a couple of QB heirlooms still hanging around the waiver tree. Let’s deck the halls with some sneaky options! 🎄
Quarterbacks (Christmas Miracle)
Aaron Rodgers (37%) at JAX
Just threw for over 300 yards vs the Dolphins defense. I am always a fan of picking on this Jaguars defense.
Matthew Stafford (55%) at SF
Coming off a solid 20-point fantasy performance against the Buffalo Bills, it’s simple: with Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp both healthy, Matthew Stafford is a must-start. Fire him up with confidence!
Running Backs
Patrick Taylor (8%) vs LAR
Remember last week when you blew your entire budget on Isaac Guerendo? That was epic. Now here we are, back in the same spot—kind of like counting on your Christmas bonus all year, only to find out your boss gave you a Jelly of the Month Club membership instead. It’s the gift that keeps on giving… just not in the way you hoped! My number 1 waiver wire add this week, starting running back for the 49ers. Rams are giving up 101 rushing yards per game.
-Risky Gifts
Isaiah Davis (14%) at JAX
He played 53% of the snaps, matched Braelon Allen's efficiency, and snagged the touchdown. A very intriguing option if Breece Hall misses more time. It’s like that “risky” gift under the tree—it might be exactly what she needs. But let’s be honest, does she really want a treadmill?
Sincere McCormick (18%) vs. ATL
It’d be great if he could find the end zone. He played 61% of the snaps—remember Zamir White last December? Sincerely, McCormick might just follow a similar path. The Raiders have the 6th best fantasy schedule for running backs (ATL, JAX, NO).
Kimani Vidal (19%) vs. TB
Got the majority of the snaps for the Chargers, against a stout Chiefs team. Better matchup this week vs. the Bucs.
Sean Tucker (4%) at LAC
Bucky Irving is dealing with back tightness, so you might want to brace yourself for the possibility of him sitting out this week. The touches should be there for Sean Tucker.
Wide Receivers (A long shot even the elves are unsure about)
Jalen McMillan (12%) at LAC
Could Baker Mayfield have found his new No. 2 pass catcher? McMillian hauled in 2 TDs last week. The matchup isn’t great, but who knows—maybe he’s just getting started and ready to deliver like Santa on Christmas Eve.
Quentin Johnston (55%) vs. TB
Caught his 7th TD of the season. Great WR matchup vs. the Buccaneers. But I trust Quentin Johnston like I trust Clark Grisswolds electrical work. It could be amazing, or it could be a dud.
Xavier Legette (49%) vs. Dallas
He saw 8 targets but only hauled in 2, with a few key drops holding him back. A bounce-back game could be on the horizon this week against Dallas.
Tight Ends
Pat Freiermuth (56%) at PHI
I’m bending the rules a bit on ownership percentage here, but it’s worth noting: George Pickens is dealing with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. Meanwhile, Pat Freiermuth, currently TE11 on the season, has scored in back-to-back games. If Pickens misses more time, Freiermuth gets a MASSIVE boost in value.
