Week 3 Waiver Snacks that smile back
Just because someone drops a player from their roster doesn't necessarily mean that player is worthless. All players below 68% ownership.
The Dolphins delivered a historic performance, scoring an impressive ten touchdowns during the game, even including a fun conga line intermission. It was not just a game but also an entertaining show, making it hard not to appreciate. However, there was one minor issue – they could have broken a record if they had chosen to kick a field goal. After all, they had already embarrassed the Broncos, so why not go for a field goal? The Dolphins showcased their speed, fluidity, and agility, resembling the qualities of their aquatic namesake.
Speaking of fish-related incidents, my wife's car needed to go into the shop last week. This meant I had two car seats in my truck, leaving goldfish snacks everywhere. So, like any responsible dad, I gathered all the stray goldfish and placed them back in her snack cup. Whether the food landed on the floor or got lost in the seat cushions didn't bother her. I wasn't about to waste those delicious snacks; she probably didn’t notice the difference. I hope my wife doesn’t hear about this.
But this experience got me thinking about fantasy football. Just because someone drops a player from their roster doesn't necessarily mean that player is worthless. Last week, I witnessed a fantasy football league where D'Andre Swift was dropped just moments before his impressive Thursday night football performance. It's a reminder that one dude’s junk can be another dude's treasure. Like the 5-second rule for dropped snacks, keeping an eye on the waiver wire and the list of recently dropped players in your fantasy football league is essential. You might find a hidden gem that can boost your team's performance.
Enough talk about the snack that smiles back. Below are all my favorite waiver wire options with roster percentages below 68% on Sleeper. If you want the ultimate fantasy football experience, consider switching your league to Sleeper today. They also have some exciting picks; if you use the promo code Dudes100, they'll match you up to $100. Rankings are HPPR with the help of PFF before MNF.
Quarterbacks:
C.J. Stroud, 32% rostered, appears to be the best rookie QB this season. He has elevated himself to the fringe QB1 territory. Stroud has made the Houston offense look efficient. We haven’t seen this since Deshaun Watson was throwing to Hopkins. Stroud is QB10 on the season.
Jordan Love, 67% rostered, QB4 for the season, has recorded three consecutive 20-point performances and staged an impressive 17-point comeback. He is still without Christian Watson, but I love the matchup this week vs. Detroit. QB5 on the season.
Brock Purdy, 64% rostered, is probably the safest QB play of the week. The Cardinals aren't likely to upset two undefeated teams in a row. Lock Purdy in for 15 points this week. While I don't see the huge upside, I expect a double-digit performance.
Stream
Russell Wilson, 52% rostered. This one is gross. He has a great matchup this week vs. the Bears and is QB8 on the season.
Running Backs:
De’Von Achane, 46% rostered, delivered one of the craziest Dolphins performances since Ronnie Brown invented the wildcat against the Patriots. We're just one injury away from Achane potentially becoming the bellcow back. While the Dolphins excelled against the Broncos, they face a more challenging test this week against Buffalo. He's a must-add in all fantasy leagues and could be an RB3/flex play this week. RB4 on the season after Sunday’s blowup game.
Jaylen Warren, 63% rostered, is an unattractive add but could see more volume with an injury. He's getting some work and got 45% of the snaps on Sunday night compared to Najee Harris's 50%. Hold and wait if you can.
Rico Dowdle, 4% rostered, scored the only TD for Dallas on Sunday but played only 14% of snaps. There's no need to start him as long as Pollard is healthy.
Hold- Keaontay Ingram, backup to James Conner, has had a very injury-prone career.
Roll the Dice plays.
Latavius Murray has a TD in back-to-back games, turning into a weekly vulture.
All the Chiefs running backs had a TD vs. the Bears.
Wide Receivers:
Tank Dell, 48% rostered, is a must-add after consecutive double-digit games. He is Stroud's clear favorite target. He had seven targets, five receptions, and 145 receiving yards vs. the Jaguars. This week, they take on the Steelers, where they likely will have to throw the ball. Tank is WR8 on the season.
Josh Palmer, 5% rostered, and Quentin Johnston, 51%, are worth considering with Mike Williams out for the season. One of these Chargers pass catchers will see increased volume. While Johnston is the preferred choice, Palmer is also a viable add. I like Quentin for the higher upside play.
Adam Thielen, 58% rostered, put up huge numbers in Week 3 with Andy Dalton throwing him the ball. He faces his former team, the Minnesota Vikings, and has recorded back-to-back double-digit performances at the age of 33. Cue the revenge game narrative. Thielen is WR9 on the season.
Marvin Mims, 27% rostered, deserves more YOLO balls from Wilson. They need to find ways to get this rookie the ball more. He had five targets, three catches, 73 yards, and a kick return for a touchdown. He should have a bigger role in the offense and has a favorable matchup this week against Chicago.
Tutu Atwell, 65% rostered, he was the last addition to this post. After Stafford locked onto him on Monday Night Football, I thought that he deserved to be on the list.
Tight Ends:
Donald Parham Jr. could be the biggest beneficiary with Williams out for the season. So far, he has been touchdown-dependent, with 3 TDs on the season. Standing at 6’8”, making him a huge red-zone target for Herbert. Donald is TE6 on the season.
Jake Ferguson, 34% rostered, had the same number of targets as Ceedee Lamb against Arizona. Look for Dak to keep force-feeding Ferguson. TE11 on the season.
Luke Musgrave, 25% rostered, saw eight targets on Sunday but is still trying to find the end zone. TE12 on the season.
Honorable Mention:
Sam LaPorta, 73% rostered, had a monster game on Sunday, so it's wise to be diligent and double-check your waiver wire.
Patriots tight ends: Pharoah Brown had a big TD this week against the Jets, and Hunter Henry is expected to return to form. Mac Jones loves targeting the big guys.
